OPUS Underwriting presentation at Lloyd’s of London
Sam Bobo, MD of Opus, outlined at the Lloyd’s market briefing on Thursday 05 November why businesses, both large and small, should understand the growing risk of IP exposure and look and ways of protecting their businesses.
At the briefing attended by 60 members, insurance brokers and other industry professionals, Chris Butcher, CEO of Ambant Underwriting Services, began by outlining the Ambant approach to supporting start-up businesses, illustrating a selection of MGA clients in its launch and host programme, before handing over to Sam.
Sam explored the world of IP, from a basic definition, through its complexity, particularly in terms of patents, onto addressing the types and size of issues for clients. As IP pervades the global economy, organisations that recognise IP and treat it as an asset will find they need to protect that asset by any means available.
Sam addressed the significance of IP to business, notably the need to understand the client’s position in the chain and where the liabilities start and end, and looked the solutions available, before fielding a number of questions from the audience.
